(a) Whether Government of Meghalaya has set up the Meghalaya Commercial Crops Development Board (MCCDB)?		(a) Yes, Sir. Â
(b) If so, since when?		(b) The Board was set up on 1/6/1997.
(c) The functions of the Board?		(c) The functions of the Board are :-
		(i) Advising the cultivators in land use and land development particularly for cultivation of commercial corps.
		(ii) Motivating cultivators to take up cultivation of commercial crops and assisting them with technical advice.
		(iii) Exploring, as far as may be, possibilities of introducing new cultivation techniques.
		(iv) Assisting cultivators to procure quality seeds and other inputs.
		(v) Advising any person interested in setting up processing units and assisting him in establishing linkages with factories and other processing unit or with a commodity Board.
		(vi) Creating marketing infrastructures and finding outlets for the produce.
		(vii) Motivating cultivators to take up commercial nurseries to raise quality seeds or crop planting materials.
		(viii) Extending financial assistance to cultivators and entrepreneurs in processing and marketing to help them achieve the objectives.
		(ix) Entering into financial agreement with commodity Board, Bank or any other financial Institutions for the promotion and execution of any  Commercial Crops Development Schemes.
		(x) Mortgage of properties of the Board as security for obtaining credit from Bank or any Financial Institution.
		(xi) Granting or advancing loans to any cooperative Society Registered under the Meghalaya Cooperative Societies Act (Assam Act 1 of 1948 as adapted by Meghalaya) or any recognised group or any individual.
		(xii) Assisting with advice any person engaged in the cultivation, processing or marketing of commercial crops in getting financial assistance from Banks and other financial Institutions or assistance from a Commodity Board and
		(xiii) Any other measures as may be considered necessary for the purpose of promoting and developing the cultivation of commercial crops.
(d) Whether the Government has appointed the Officers/Staff etc. for the above Board?		(d) Yes, Sir. Â
(e) The benefits people will get from this Board? Â		(e) The Board is expected to borrow money for Banks and financial institution and advance the same to the cultivators or persons engaged in processing and marketing of commercial crops as per terms and conditions laid down under the Meghalaya Commercial Crops Development Board Rules, 2001.
